Jacaranda Baltic

One of the newest additions to the Baltic, Jacaranda combines a ground-floor record shop
with a 400-capacity underground venue, which opened 65 years after its original Slater
Street site. The shop stocks a curated mix of new releases from local and international
artists, alongside a broad range of classic albums.

The original Jacaranda is inexorably linked with the MerseyBeat sound and its role in
Beatles folklore. Their first manager, Allan Williams, opened it in 1957, and local students
John Lennon, Stuart Sutcliffe, George Harrison and Paul McCartney (you might have heard
of them) were regulars before performing their first ever ‘publicly announced performance’
there – as a five-piece with Stuart Sutcliffe and original drummer Pete Best.
