The Lantern Burns Brightly As Ownership turns Inside Out

The new owners are delighted to confirm that Tiny Giants and the Lantern Theatre Company will continue at The Lantern as company in residence.
An exciting season of productions demonstrates the commitment of the new management to continue the development of the theatre, as well as bringing new energy and commitment.
In new proprietor, Margaret Connell, The Lantern is fortunate to have found someone who brings a wealth of experience in both the artistic and administrative sides of running theatrical productions.
An enthusiastic Margaret says:
“This is a unique opportunity, one that couldn’t be missed. The Lantern has all the attributes a successful theatre needs, and brings a different dimension to the culture of the city. Inside Out Arts plan to make this an essential part of the artistic diversity on offer in Liverpool. We’ll be making good use of the best talent around, on and off stage.
“And we’re starting from now, so come along and see for yourselves”
Alongside The Lantern Theatre’s eclectic programme of work from new and emerging artists Inside Out Arts are committed to the development of a strong community outreach programme.
Margaret, born and bred in Liverpool, explained: “It’s important to me that we play a full part in the life of the city.”

The Lantern Theatre is a family run, cosy and welcoming theatre situated in a converted warehouse near Liverpool One. The auditorium holds approximately eighty-five seats and has a fully licensed bar.
The Lantern hosts regular performances from touring theatre companies, local community groups, comedians and musicians, and is home to resident theatre companies Tiny Giants Productions & The Lantern Theatre Company who produce regular theatre pieces throughout the year.
The theatre is family friendly and offers a variety of performances and activities for families and children including; birthday parties, summers schools and family fun days. The Lantern is a beautiful space that offers its audience a more personal theatre experience and hosts a variety of different events to suit all tastes.
Since opening in 2009, The Lantern has received fantastic feedback from artists and the general public, and continues to operate as an independent, family run theatre that supports local artists and is at the heart of Liverpool’s community.

Sunny Rhyl - Sat 22nd Oct
A new play by Paul Kelly and Directed by Steve Davies.
It’s July 1962 and The Beatles are playing the Dansette, Miss Sunny Rhyl will be crowned in the Pavilion and the Pier is about to be sold.
Sunny Rhyl is a comedy drama about Lola, an upper class idealist at a crossroads in heryoung life, and working class Francis, a dreamer that’s in danger of losing his beloved job working a deckchair concession.
A journey of discovery via false accents, big dippers, beauty contests, singing and
paddling just might save the day for this unlikely pair brought together by an innocent
seaside town that can’t help but change.
